What is Woodside?
Woodside is more than just the name of a building, Woodside is a massive oil and gas company. In 2019 Monash entered a lucrative partnership with Woodside Petroleum.
Woodside is one of the worst climate criminals in the world, Woodside has doubled-down on fossil fuels. In 2022 Woodside merged with BHP's oil and gas interests, becoming a behemoth fossil fuel company. In the past 2 years Woodside has doubled its worldwide (scope 3) greenhouse gas emissions.
On top of all that, Woodside is currently developing Australia's most polluting mega-project ever, Burrup Hub, which would contribute 6 billion tonnes of carbon pollution to Earth's atmosphere (about 13 years worth of Australia's entire emissions).
Enough is Enough.
Woodside is being brutal in defending its fossil fuel investments, it is actively prosecuting climate protestors, causing environmental damage, and destroying Indigenous cultural heritage. Monash is being used by Woodside to greenwash its image.
Why is Monash partnered with a climate criminal?
We are calling on Monash to live up to its sustainability proclamations and drop all ties with Woodside we should not be used for greenwashing!
